Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Christchurch - Aoraki/Mt Cook
Our first stop is Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, in the heart of the South Island. Here
you will find New Zealand’s finest alpine surroundings, including our largest mountain,
Aoraki/Mt Cook. This afternoon we will explore the Hooker valley, including alpine lakes
and views of New Zealand’s highest peaks. All the locations we visit are within easy
walks along well-graded tracks on the valley floors.

Day 2 - Mt Cook
The day begins with a sunrise shoot before heading back to the hotel for breakfast. This
morning we will have the option to do some aerial photography (optional extra). This
includes taking a flight over Aoraki/Mt Cook and landing to photograph the glaciers above.
This evening we shall photograph the sunset in the Tasman Valley where icebergs float
gracefully in lakes below the mountains.

Day 3 -Mt Cook - Te Anau
After sunrise this morning we depart for Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland National Park,
one of New Zealand’s most spectacular regions for photography. Once we arrive, we shall
spend the afternoon on the tranquil shores of Lake Te Anau, the South Island’s largest
lake, walking on an easy path at the start of the Kepler Track. We photograph the sunset
over the lake, with a vast array of mountains beyond

Day 4 - Te Anau (Milford Sound Day Trip) This morning we take the Milford Highway up the Eglinton Valley. Winding through the mountains; past dark, brooding lakes and mossy beech forests, perched at impossibly steep slopes, we arrive at Milford Sound. Milford Sound is one of the country's most iconic locations, granite peaks soar more than a mile above the dark waters of the fjord. Huge waterfalls tumble down into the sea giving the area a scale and grandeur that has to be seen to be believed, we take a boat trip here to witness the Sound from the water to give a different perspective.

Day 5 - Te Anau - Wanaka We begin with another sunrise shoot at Te Anau, then we travel on to Lake Wanaka, famed for its lone tree in the lake.

Day 6 - Wanaka Sunrise will be shot at the famous Wanaka Tree, one of New Zealand’s most iconic vistas. This evening we set out to the hill around Wanaka for an adventure in a 4 Wheel Drive truck. On our excursion, we will be photographing various High-Country scenes. The landscape here is very rugged, raw and sparse, a stunning location for sunset.

Day 7 - Wanaka - Fox Glacier We then depart for the West Coast, a community as remote as they come in New Zealand. En route, we shall photograph some of the countless stunning waterfalls throughout the Haast Pass. We stay the night in Fox Glacier, a tiny town on the road with some outstanding features to its name. Tonight, we head down to the beach to capture our first West Coast sunset.

Day 8 - Fox Glacier This morning we photograph sunrise at Lake Matheson, capturing the often-perfect reflections of Aoraki/Mt Cook and Mt Tasman - New Zealand’s highest mountains. Today we will also have the opportunity for an optional flight (additional cost) over the glacier for some aerial photography. Sunset tonight will see us heading out to capture panoramic views of the Southern Alps, rising beyond a vast extent of rainforest.

Day 9 - Fox Glacier - Punakaiki Today we drive further up the West Coast, with several stops en route, including the turquoise waters of the Hokitika Gorge. Tonight, we stay at Punakaiki, famous for its Pancake rock formations.

Day 10 - Punakaiki This morning we explore the exquisite limestone and river landscapes of Paparoa National Park. We will spend the rest of the day exploring the exceptional coastline in this area, sunset will see us heading out onto stunning beaches to capture the last light hitting the coastline and huge breaking waves.

Day 11 - Punakaiki - Arthur’s Pass This morning we part ways with the wonderful West Coast, heading inland once more. Our destination is Arthur’s Pass, a stunning leg of our journey. The alpine region offers some incredible views passing through the Southern Alps. After exploring some short walks around Arthur's Pass itself we will head to Castle Hill to photograph the amazing bolder formations here. Afterwards, we travel into the Waimakariri Valley and to our hotel on the edge of Arthur’s Pass National Park. At sunset and sunrise, we will photograph views over the Waimakariri braided river flats and the Southern Alps.

Day 12 - Arthurs Pass to Christchurch After our sunrise shoot, we return to the Hotel for breakfast. Following this, we will then head to Christchurch and our journey’s end, connecting with outward flights.
