Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Today you will fly from the US to Casablanca overnight.
Day 2
On arrival in Casablanca, you will be met by our representative and driver. Today you will be collected after breakfast & transferred to your ride in Marrakesh by private car (a 2 1/2 hour journey).
The evening is at your leisure.
Day 3
Today you will have your own private guide to take you around the vibrant city of Marrakesh. You will have the opportunity to visit the beautiful Saadien Tombs as well as the Bahia Palace and Koutoubia Mosque. In the afternoon you will be guided around the different quarters of the medina seeing craftsmen still practicing their traditional trades.
Day 4
Today you will have a private tour geared personally towards photography. This tour will take you to some of the most photogenic spots in Marrakesh including Bab Debbagh, a fondouk quarter, and the Museum Douiria Mouassine. You will also visit the Museum of Photography, and Dar El Bacha Street, home to many art galleries. Your tour will also pass through the uniquely beautiful winding streets of the souqs.
Day 5
Today you will be collected by your driver and transferred to your hotel in Skoura. The drive takes between four to five hours, but you will pass through the stunning High Atlas mountains en route and then down through the edge of the Sahara to the date palm oasis of Skoura. You will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou on the way. This is an amazing mud brick fortified town which tumbles down the hill. It is fascinating to explore its streets - a paradise for photographers, it has been used in countless films such as Babel, Gladiator and the Mummy, to name but a few.
Day 6
Skoura is a lovely date palm oasis filled with old mud – brick kasbahs and crumbling houses - very picturesque. You will explore the old palmerie and then head out to Ouarzazate to tour the film studios.
Day 7
Today you will continue along the Dades Valley, via the Todra Gorge, until you reach the Erg Chebbi. Then you transfer to a camel, ride to the top of the dunes to watch the sun set, & afterwards ride down to spend a night in a traditional (but luxurious - think `Victorian explorer` style!) Bedouin tent where you get to see true Berber hospitality. You will enjoy a sumptuous Berber feast cooked in the desert. Often, there are sub – Saharan musicians (the Gnaouia) to play for you as well!
Day 8
A long but interesting journey today, taking you to the north of the country. Your route takes you through the Middle Atlas to Fez, for a two night stay to explore the city in full. Along the drive you will have the opportunity to visit the Ziz Gorge and be sure to look out for the Barbary apes as you pass through the Cedar forest!
Day 9
You have a full day city tour of 9th & 13th century Fez where you will learn more about the city by not only visiting some of the historical mosques, the university & the tanneries, but also the souq where you will be able to try your hand at bargaining. You can end the day relaxing on the roof terrace of your ride, listening to the evening call to prayer echo around the city.
Day 10
Today your driver and guide will collect you from your riad and you will make the short drive out to the Roman city of Voloubilis and then on to Imperial Meknes - which although not as fascinating as Fez is well worth the visit. It is best to try to head out as early as possible, as Voloubilis is open to the elements and it can get very hot; also the mosque at Meknes closes around 12 noon for prayers. From here you will continue on to the blue city of Chefchaouen where you'll stay for 2 nights.
Day 11
Your private guide will collect you after breakfast and take you on a tour of this unique town. The rest of the afternoon is yours to continue exploring on your own or relax back at the hotel. If you're lucky, you'll get to experience the local Berber market that comes to town every Tuesday.
Day 12
This morning you will leave the tranquil Rif Mountains and Chefchaouen behind and head West to the coast where you stay in Casablanca. You have an afternoon visit of the interior of Hassan II Mosque (the world's 7th largest mosque). Le Doge Hotel, Casablanca
Day 12
This morning you will transfer to Casablanca airport for your return flight.
